The ice was still settling after the opening period when the Edm Wolfpack came out firing, stunning Pinpoint with three unanswered goals before the first intermission. Brendan Mattern (#9) struck first at 5:23 of the first, skating onto a loose puck and burying it past Marcus Johnson to give the Wolfpack early momentum. Just over two minutes later, with Pinpoint’s Jonny Maynard (#19) serving a tripping minor, the Wolfpack’s power play went to work. Brennan Kowalchuk (#69) hammered home a setup from Justin Schabel (#44) and Colin McNamara (#1) at 2:34, and Mattern added his second of the period with 12 seconds left in the frame, fed by Blake Unger (#98). At the break, Edm Wolfpack held a commanding 3-0 lead and looked firmly in control.
But Pinpoint roared back in the second period with a display of sheer offensive firepower that completely flipped the script. Andrew Muzyka (#92) got the comeback started with a nice feed from Dan Mayer (#12) and Brody Irvine (#91) at 9:29, and just 23 seconds later, Irvine himself wired one home, with Kyle Fluker (#23) and Matthew Josephson (#10) drawing assists. The onslaught continued: Jonny Maynard atoned for his earlier penalty by scoring at 5:07, and Kyle Fluker finished a slick passing play from Tyler Steinbring (#7) and Dan Mayer to knot the game 3-3 at 2:31. Then, with just over two minutes left in the period, Brody Irvine completed his hat trick by jamming a rebound past goalie Dustin Meisinger (#35), giving Pinpoint a stunning 4-3 lead after outshooting the Wolfpack 18-0 in the period.
The third period saw both teams dig deep, but Pinpoint’s momentum was too much to overcome. Jay Del Cid (#14) extended the lead to 5-3 at 5:09, converting a perfect feed from Kyle Fluker and Greg Daughtery (#26). The Wolfpack refused to quit, and Colin McNamara (#1) showed his two-way skill by scoring a rare goal for the netminder at 1:12, assisted once again by Brennan Kowalchuk and Blake Unger to cut the deficit to 5-4. But Pinpoint sealed the win when Kyle Fluker finished his own brilliant night, scoring his second of the game with 6:47 remaining. The home team weathered a late push and held on for a 6-4 victory, completing a memorable comeback fueled by a nine-goal outburst over the final two periods.
