Dakkus Edges Edm Cobra in a Thrilling 5-4 Shootout

In a game that had all the drama of a playoff classic, Dakkus pulled out a heart-stopping 5-4 victory over the Edm Cobra, securing the win with a burst of third-period energy and a sensational overtime finish. The game opened with a flurry of action, as Edm Cobra’s Aaron Budnick (#22) lit the lamp just 6:30 into the first period, assisted by Christopher McIntyre and Ryan Hauser. The Cobra kept the pressure on, and Cavan Lee (#12) made it 2-0 before the first intermission, leaving Dakkus staring at an early deficit despite firing 24 shots in the opening frame.

However, Dakkus refused to roll over. Edm Cobra extended their lead to 3-0 early in the second period on a goal by Jason Lindemulder (#6), but the tide began to turn when Rajdeep Chung (#98) answered back at 9:58 with an assist from Sasindu Jayasuriya and Joban Pandher. The Cobra’s Nick Belok (#2) sniped one in with just 1:53 left in the period, restoring a 4-1 lead that seemed to put the game out of reach. Yet Dakkus’s tenacity was merely waiting for the right moment to ignite. A slashing penalty on Edm Cobra’s Aaron Budnick in the third opened the floodgates. Prabjot Sanghera (#99) buried a goal at 8:05, followed by a strike from Gurman Gurm (#22) at 4:24 that cut the lead to one. Then, with the man advantage, Davinder Chung (#0) cashed in on a power-play goal at 2:12, assisted again by Rajdeep Chung and Joban Pandher, tying the game at 4-4 and sending the crowd into a frenzy.

Headed to a sudden-death fourth period, the momentum was squarely on Dakkus’s side. Just 1:43 in, Prabjot Sanghera struck again, netting the game-winner and completing a stunning comeback. Dakkus goaltender Matthew Olson (#82) was brilliant, stopping all 17 shots he faced in the final frames after coming on in relief, while Edm Cobra’s Troy LePage (#0) made 24 saves but was ultimately left to wonder what could have been. Two third-period penalties by the Cobra proved catastrophic, as Dakkus capitalized on one and rode a wave of relentless offensive pressure to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
