In a game that had everything a hockey fan could ask for, the Hellfish narrowly escaped with a 6-5 victory over the Pail Pumpers in what can only be described as an offensive explosion at both ends of the ice. Despite being outshot 29-17 over the course of the game, the Hellfish managed to find the back of the net when it mattered most, with Karrah Stephen (#8) leading the charge with a hat trick that proved to be the difference-maker. The game was a rollercoaster from the opening faceoff, with neither team willing to give an inch and the lead changing hands multiple times throughout the contest.
The Hellfish came out firing in the first period, with Stephen opening the scoring at 10:51 on an even-strength goal assisted by Jordan Hodge (#13). Stephen struck again just over four minutes later at 6:44, this time with help from Sameer Jafeer (#52), before Nathan Steinhubl (#90) capitalized on a power-play opportunity at 2:47 with assists from Kyle Graham (#37) and Gabriel Bonanni (#10) to give the Hellfish a commanding 3-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The Pail Pumpers, however, refused to go quietly, and the second period saw a dramatic shift in momentum. Connor Vandepolder (#8) got the home team on the board at 7:32 with help from Romeo Dakurah (#4), but Bryce Golosky (#7) answered back just 18 seconds later to restore the Hellfish's three-goal lead. Darren Arcand (#92) then made it 5-1 at 5:56, and it looked like the Hellfish might run away with the game. But Austin Sorensen (#13) responded for the Pail Pumpers at 4:46, cutting the deficit to 5-2 and giving the home crowd something to cheer about heading into the final period.
The third period was pure chaos, with the Pail Pumpers mounting a furious comeback attempt. Stephen completed his hat trick at 12:38 to make it 6-2, but the Pail Pumpers refused to quit. Ben Fernandez (#11) scored at 11:37, Eric Hollman (#71) added another at 9:14, and Vandepolder netted his second of the game at 1:28 to cut the Hellfish lead to just 6-5. Despite a late surge and several close calls, the Pail Pumpers could not find the equalizer, as the Hellfish held on for dear life in the final minute. The goaltending statistics show zero saves for both teams, but with a combined 46 shots and 11 goals scored, it's clear that both netminders were under siege all night long in a game that will be remembered as one of the most entertaining of the season.
