The Regulators delivered a dominant performance, overpowering the MCA Holes in a game that saw an explosive second period swing the contest decisively in their favor. From the opening puck drop, the tone was set with relentless pressure, as the Regulators outshot the Holes 36-31 in the first period alone. Braedan Miller (#69) got the scoring started early, burying an even-strength goal at 7:48 of the first period with an assist from Mark Mitchell (#55), giving the Regulators a 1-0 lead they would never relinquish. Both goaltenders faced heavy fire early on, but it was Regulators goalie Shawn Dupuis (#27) who seemed to settle in first, turning aside everything that came his way.
The second period was a veritable explosion of offense from the Regulators, who scored five times to blow the game wide open. Mark Mitchell (#55) and Nate Harmata (#16) emerged as a dynamic duo, combining for a flurry of goals. Mitchell scored just 12:35 into the period with helpers from Miller and Curtis Crouse (#61), then Harmata added a goal of his own less than a minute later, assisted by Crouse and Miller. The rout was on as Harmata scored again just a minute later, making it 4-0. The MCA Holes finally found life when Adam Frank (#71) put his team on the board at 4:38, assisted by Brandon Ellis (#6) and Kyle Reid (#18). But the Regulators answered immediately. Mitchell scored his second of the game, and Sergio Rodas (#94) added another before the period’s final buzzer, sending the teams to the locker room with the Regulators holding a commanding 7-1 lead. Adam Frank would add a second goal for the Holes with just one second left in the period, a small consolation as the Regulators had taken complete control.
Despite the one-sided score, the game wasn't without its chippy moments. The MCA Holes took a body contact penalty late in the first period, and a holding minor in the third gave the Regulators a power play they promptly capitalized on. Braedan Miller (#69) notched his second goal of the game on the man advantage, with Mitchell and Crouse again providing the setups. Nate Harmata then completed his hat trick at 7:40 of the third period, also set up by Mitchell, to cap off the 8-2 victory. Mark Mitchell was a force all game, racking up a staggering number of points to lead the offensive charge. While Ming Leung (#42) of the Holes faced a heavy barrage of shots, the Regulators' balanced attack and relentless forecheck were simply too much, as the team raced out to a decisive win.
