The Balls came out firing on all cylinders and never let up, steamrolling the MCA Holes in a lopsided 12-2 victory that was all but decided in the first period. From the opening faceoff, it was clear who controlled the pace. Goalie #1 Dave Olson, despite facing only 11 shots, was credited with the win, a testament to the suffocating defensive effort in front of him. On the flip side, the Holes’ netminder, #42 Ming Leung, was under siege all night, facing a barrage of 35 shots and making just 23 saves in a game where he had little chance.
The first period was a clinic in offensive pressure for The Balls. #41 Levi Mallett opened the scoring at the 12:06 mark, with assists from #23 Ryan Locke and #2 Riley Calci. Not to be outdone, #91 Chris Rose netted his first of the night just a minute later. Even a shorthanded opportunity couldn't slow them down, as #23 Ryan Locke buried one at 10:15 to make it 3-0 before the Holes could even find their footing. The Holes finally broke through with a goal from #71 Adam Frank at the 2:09 mark, but any hopes of a comeback were dashed immediately. The Balls answered right back, with #71 Cameron Dumais scoring just 29 seconds later, sending the teams to the dressing room with a commanding 5-1 lead.
The second period was a masterclass in offensive efficiency for The Balls, as they poured in seven more goals. Chris Rose completed a hat trick, #2 Riley Calci potted a pair, and #41 Levi Mallett added his second of the night. The Balls’ defense, led by #59 Mitch Ferguson and #40 Adam Tien, who combined for four assists, was a brick wall. The Holes, meanwhile, managed a lone tally from #13 Felix Ling, but by the time the horn sounded on the second period, the score was a staggering 12-2. The third period was a mere formality, with #15 JD Booth adding the final tally at the 3:00 mark. The only minor penalty of the game came early in the first period, a roughing call against Riley Calci, which the Holes failed to capitalize on. It was a night to forget for the MCA Holes and a statement win for The Balls, who served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with this season.
