The Flamingos and Marauders treated fans to an offensive explosion at the rink, with the visiting Flamingos ultimately prevailing 7-5 in a game that saw nearly 40 shots on goal in the first period alone. The Flamingos came out flying, peppering the Marauders net with 29 shots in the opening frame while chasing an early deficit. Kyle Lamont (Away #77) struck twice in the first period, scoring at 12:30 and 10:24, the latter off a feed from Mike Shumka (#16), to stake the Flamingos to a 2-0 lead. The Marauders finally answered late in the period when Michael Garlough (#26) buried one past goalie Mike Jackson (#31) with help from Ryan Turner (#17), cutting the lead to 2-1 entering the first intermission.
The second period saw the game open up further, with the teams combining for four goals. Cory Awid (#18) struck on the power play at 6:02 from Ivor Lee (#91) to restore the two-goal lead, before Avery Rendell (#14) made it 4-1 just over a minute later. The Marauders responded when Martin Cho (#6) found the back of the net at 3:17, but Avery Rendell answered right back for the Flamingos at 0:24 of the period to push the lead back to 5-2 heading into the final frame. The period was marred by penalties for the Marauders, with Tim Sinclair (#34) and Garlough both sitting for trips, putting pressure on a defense that was already struggling to contain the Flamingos attack.
The third period descended into chaos as tempers flared. Cory Awid notched his second of the game at 9:49, but the Marauders’ Brendan Kudrynesky (#47) immediately answered at 8:29 from Aaron Lawson (#68). Paul Gravelle (#17) pushed the lead back to 7-3 at 7:55, and the game seemed decided. However, the Marauders mounted a furious late rally, with Kudrynesky scoring again at 1:04 and Bryce Bird (#3) burying a power-play goal at 0:18 to cut the deficit to 7-5. The comeback was too little, too late, as the Flamingos held on for the win. The game's most controversial moment came when Marauder Tim Sinclair (#34) was ejected at 3:49 of the third after receiving a head contact double minor, an interference penalty, and a game ejection in a single sequence. The Marauders' Paul Kojder (# 33) faced a tough night in net, stopping 0 of 29 shots but keeping his team in the game long enough for the late push, while Jackson earned the win despite a shaky finish.
