In a game that had more twists and turns than a Hollywood thriller, the Knights HC and Pitbulls played to an electrifying 6-6 tie in BHE1 Adult League action. From the opening puck drop at the West Coast Arena, it was clear this would be no ordinary Tuesday night matchup. The Pitbulls came out firing, peppering Knights netminder Logan Weis (#11) with 32 shots in the first period alone, but somehow only managed to find the back of the net twice in the opening frame. Matt Robertson (#33) got the scoring started at 6:34 of the first, with Blake Roche (#88) and Cameron Mullen (#16) picking up helpers. The Pitbulls struck again just over a minute later when Roche turned scorer, capitalizing on feeds from Brody Beaulieu (#27) and Robertson. But the Knights refused to buckle, and Sundeen Basran (#93) pulled one back with 34 seconds left in the period, assisted by Amanvir Sanghera (#43) and Gursimrat Dogra (#28), sending the teams to the locker room with the Pitbulls clinging to a 2-1 lead.
The second period belonged entirely to the Knights HC, as they exploded for four unanswered goals in a stunning display of offensive firepower. Amanvir Sanghera started the onslaught at 10:10, finishing a play set up by Basran and Dogra. The Knights continued to roll when Dogra buried one at 2:52, with Andre Debre (#68) and Inderpaul Hari (#96) providing the setup. Harjot Chahal (#22) and Rod Tes (#21) combined for another strike at 1:17, and remarkably, Dogra scored his second of the period just 21 seconds later – again with Sanghera and Basran facilitating. The Knights had completely flipped the script, taking a 5-2 lead and seemingly seizing total control of the contest. With goalie stats showing all zeroes across the board for both netminders, it was clear the focus was on the skaters, and the Knights’ depth was on full display as they chased Pitbulls goalie Will Politeski (#1) from his crease metaphorically, if not literally.
But the Pitbulls would not be denied their share of the points. What followed was a third period for the ages, as the visitors mounted a furious comeback that perfectly mirrored the Knights’ second-period explosion. Tristan Ardron (#19) and Brody Beaulieu (#27) ignited the rally just 16 seconds apart – Ardron scoring at 8:35 with Beaulieu assisting on both goals, including Beaulieu’s own strike at 8:19. The Knights managed to stem the tide temporarily when Amanvir Sanghera netted his second of the night at 5:25, but the Pitbulls were relentless. Matt Robertson scored his second goal at 2:43, and then in a dramatic sequence, Brody Beaulieu completed his hat trick with just 2:28 remaining, with Brady Coleman (#55) and Cameron Mullen providing the helpers. With both teams exhausted and the clock running down, neither side could find the winner, and when the final buzzer sounded, the 6-6 scoreline was a fitting tribute to a game that featured everything but a suspension. The Knights fired 21 shots while the Pitbulls managed 32 in a contest that left everyone in attendance breathless.
